How white will my teeth get?

Teeth whitening can lighten teeth by upto 8 – 10 shades, but not everyone’s teeth respond in the same way. Results will vary due to factors such as tooth density, tooth porosity, and lifestyle habits. Most people will brighten their teeth substantially with one treatment. For an even whiter smile, use your home whitening kit for 15-30 minutes per day for a few days.

Am I a good candidate for teeth whitening?

Were your teeth whiter when you were younger, but are yellow now? Are your front teeth healthy, without bonded veneers or caps? If you answer “yes” to these questions, you’re an excellent candidate for whiter teeth.

Is there any pain or discomfort with this treatment?

There shouldn’t be any discomfort. However, some people may feel mild sensitivity.

Is the teeth whitening gel safe?

Yes. The gel will not harm the enamel on your teeth and will not affect your existing fillings.

What causes teeth to yellow and discolour?

Most stains come with time and are caused by the use of tobacco, coffee, tea, and other agents. Some discolouration can be caused by antibiotics, such as tetracycline, or fluorosis (too much fluoride in the diet).

If I am pregnant can I still have my teeth whitened?

You should consult Dr. Luthra before starting this treatment. After you’ve had a consultation, you can decide if you want to wait until after pregnancy.

How do I maintain my whiter smile?

Capital Dental recommends following this dental hygiene program:
  1. Brush your teeth twice daily.
  2. After each meal floss.
  3. Visit your dentist every 6 months for regular cleaning and check-ups.
  4. Use the Capital Dental home kit treatment as necessary to keep your whitened teeth bright.

How will it improve the colour of my teeth?

The tooth whitening treatment will not only make the teeth more white, but will give them an overall lustre. The improvement in whiteness will depend on a number of factors – your dentist will explain more.

Will I feel anything?

You will not need an injection and the procedure is painless.

What are the sounds?

The light unit makes a bleeping noise when it finishes its whitening cycle.

How common are these procedures?

Very common, they have been used for many years.

Is it the light process safe?

Yes, very safe. Dr. Luthra will give you a pair of special glasses to protect your eyes.

What have other patients said about this sort of treatment?

Most patients are very pleased with the whitening procedure using words like relaxing and satisfying. Because there is nothing touching you – apart from the soft gel.
