Braces don’t need to be obvious: discreet orthodontic solutions in Twickenham

In this day and age, braces don’t have to equate obvious metal appliances, and teeth straightening need not always involved fixed appliances. At Capital Dental in Twickenham, we embrace developments in modern orthodontic care, and are proud to offer a range of subtler ways to straighten your teeth than traditional metal “train-tracks”.

discreet-orthodonticTwickenham braces and aligners

Discreet orthodontics is one of the fastest-growing areas of modern dentistry. It involves the use of either subtle fixed appliances – braces – or clear and removable aligners to change the position of your teeth without everybody having to know you are having treatment. Depending on your clinical needs, many of these appliances also work far more quickly than standard orthodontic appliances.

If you are interested in teeth straightening without the train-tracks, why not call in to our Twickenham dental practice for an orthodontic consultation? Your dentist will assess the type and amount of correction required, and will then talk you through the pros and cons of all of our relevant treatment options.

Among the discreet orthodontic solutions available at Capital Dental in Twickenham are:

Cfast braces

These cosmetic braces are designed for mild to moderate repositioning of the front teeth, and have an average treatment time of just six months. Comprising clear brackets and tooth-coloured nickel titanium wires, Cfast blends in with the natural shade of your teeth.

Inman Aligner

This single clear aligner is used to correct adult relapse and protrusion issues with the front teeth. Its unique design enables it to act rapidly and comfortably, and it is practically invisible in your mouth.

Quick Straight Teeth

Quick Straight Teeth braces are designed to act discreetly and fast. They are cosmetic appliances that work on the front six to eight teeth.

Invisalign

This system of removable, clear aligners provides an alternative to fixed appliances, and can treat more complex cases than cosmetic brace systems.

Using dental implants to restore the functionality of natural teeth

With dental implants, it’s about more than just giving you a beautiful smile. At Hampton clinic Capital Dental our skilled implantology team are keen to extol the virtues of implants as the only permanent way to replace your missing teeth – and the only option that enables your dentist to restore the full functionality of natural teeth to your jaw.

dental-implants-hamptonHow dental implants work

Every tooth is made up of two parts: a crown and a root. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that replaces the roots of missing teeth, forming a bond with your jaw bone similar in strength to that of natural teeth.

Your dentist will then attach permanent new teeth to abutments on top of your implants. Depending on your individual needs, these new teeth will either be an implant-retained bridge, dentures, or crowns.

Dental implants are made out of titanium, which is compatible with human bodies and supportive of bone growth, meaning that implant treatment can also help to stop bone resorbtion. Implant placement is done under local anaesthetic or sedation at our Hamptondental practice. It is a small oral surgical procedure, but most people who have had the treatment say that it is more pleasant than having a tooth taken out. Treatment under general anaesthetic is also available if you are particularly anxious or nervous – talk to your dentist to find out more about what this will entail.

In most cases, your dental implants will be left to heal for a few months before your permanent teeth are attached to them, giving them ample time to integrate with your jaw bone and form a strong bond.

At the end of this healing period you will be called back to our Hamptondental clinic for your crowns, bridge, or dentures to be attached.

Braces for the modern age: discreet orthodontics explored

Metal braces are no longer the only option for patients who want straighter teeth. At Capital Dental in Hampton we offer a number of subtler teeth-straightening options, both fixed and removable appliances. If you missed out on orthodontic treatment as a child, or you had treatment only to experience adult relapse, we invite you to join us for an orthodontic consultation.

braces-hamptonHamptonbraces and aligners

When you come into our Hamptondental practice for a consultation, your dentist will perform an in-depth clinical examination to help determine the best course of treatment to suit your needs. Lifestyle factors will also be taken into account, because we believe that dental treatment should have minimal impact on your day-to-day life whenever possible.

Depending on what your clinical needs are, your practitioner may recommend fixed braces or removable aligners. Both have their benefits, and the pros and cons of all suitable treatments will be discussed at your initial consultation so that you can feel confident about the decision you make.

The braces we use at our Hampton practice are subtler than the conventional metal appliances most people picture when they hear the “b” word. They have been specifically designed with busy adult lifestyles in mind, and are largely unnoticeable in everyday life.

Among the discreet braces offered at our Hampton clinic are:

Cfast

Cosmetic braces, designed for rapid aesthetic correction, Cfast work in as little as five months by focusing on the front teeth. They comprise tooth-coloured and clear components.

FastBraces

Again available with clear and tooth-coloured parts, these fixed appliances have a unique design that enables them to move the crowns and roots of the teeth together.

We also use a number of clear aligner systems at our Hampton clinic. These include the Inman Aligner, designed to quickly correct adult relapse, and Invisalign, which is capable of treating more complex orthodontic conditions.

Why choosing dental implants could be the best decision you ever make

Dental implants are a 21st Century solution for patients with missing teeth. At Capital Dental in Twickenham, our skilled implant dentist can use implants to replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth, restoring both full functionality and aesthetic beauty to your mouth.

dental-implants-twickenhamAt our Twickenham practice we are even able to offer dental implants to patients who have suffered bone loss, perhaps from having missing teeth for some time or from wearing standard dentures for years. Even if your own dentist has told you low bone density precludes you from having implants placed, get in touch with Capital. We can use additional procedures, known as bone grafts or sinus lifts, to rebuild your bone density to sufficient levels so that your jaw can support dental implants.

The advantages of dental implants

At Capital Dental in Twickenham, we firmly believe that choosing dental implants to replace your missing or failing teeth is one of the best decisions you can make. Of course, we know that choosing to have a surgical procedure can be daunting, which is why we will furnish you with all the information you need in order to make an informed choice about treatment.

Our Twickenham practice is modern and uses the latest techniques and materials, meaning that you can rest assured that you will be in safe hands, well cared-for at all stages of your implant journey.

Dental implants are the only permanent option for replacing teeth. They are also the only option that replace the root parts of a tooth or teeth, and because they are made from titanium they will encourage bone growth.

After a healing period, your dentist will attach permanent new teeth – a crown, bridge, or dentures – to abutments on top of your implants, restoring the full functionality of natural teeth.

Why braces no longer need to mean metal train-tracks

At Twickenham clinic Capital Dental, we use braces and aligners to straighten patients’ teeth. Before anyone panics at the “b” word, let us reassure you; modern orthodontic appliances have come a long way since the metal train-tracks of your school days. There are now many subtler ways in which your dentist can improve the alignment of your teeth.

metal-bracesTeeth straightening in Twickenham: your options

The team at Capital Dental in Twickenham understands that, for many adults, the desire for beautifully aligned teeth conflicts with no desire to wear obvious metal braces. That’s why we are pleased to offer some far more discreet alternatives – both fixed and removable appliances.

Discreet braces

In many cases, braces remain the best option to straighten teeth. They give maximum control to your dentist or orthodontist over the movement of each tooth, and can be used to correct the full spectrum of orthodontic disorders.

At our Twickenham clinic we use a number of different tooth-coloured brace systems. These braces are designed to blend in with the natural colour of your teeth, and comprise clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires.

Quick Straight Teeth is a system of cosmetic braces that work in as little as six months, focussing as they do on the teeth at the front of your mouth that show when you smile. FastBraces, meanwhile, can correct a wider range of issues and use a unique design to move the roots and crowns of the teeth together.

Clear aligners

An alternative to fixed appliances, clear aligners are custom-designed to fit over your teeth to guide them into an improved position. Aligners have next to no impact on your lifestyle, because they are barely visible to the untrained eye, and because they can be taken out for short spells.

Aligners used at our Twickenham practice include the Inman Aligner and Invisalign.

Why investing in dental implants means investing in your future

Dental implants offer the only permanent way for a dentist to replace your missing teeth. At Capital Dental in Twickenham, experienced implant surgeon Dr Sunny Luthra can treat even complex implant cases, where significant bone loss has already occurred.

dental-implantsOur teeth comprise both crowns and roots; standard tooth replacement products such as traditional bridges only replace the crowns. Dental implants are the only way for a dentist to replace tooth roots. As well as providing unrivalled stability for your new teeth, implants help to prevent bone loss. This is because they are made from titanium, which is both highly compatible with human bodies and osteoconductive – supportive of bone growth.

To have your teeth replaced with dental implants, you will require minor oral surgery. Most people require only local anaesthetic for this procedure, which is carried out by Dr Luthra here in the comfort of our Twickenhamdental practice. However, if you are very anxious or phobic about treatment, we can also provide implant placement under conscious sedation.

The number of dental implants you will require depends on how many teeth are to be replaced. The good news is that one implant can usually support several teeth, so you won’t need an implant for every new tooth. Some patients at our Twickenhamdental practice are suitable for All-on-4 implant treatment, which sees your dentist precisely place and angle four dental implants to support a full jaw of teeth. Your new teeth will be fitted on the same day.

Other people require a healing period, which is usually a couple of months. During this time the implants mesh with the jaw bone and provide a firm base on which your clincian will attach your permanent new teeth. Usually during the healing period temporary teeth will be fitted, so you needn’t fear being toothless.

Cosmetic braces: the subtle way to straighter teeth

Cosmetic braces are designed to straighten your teeth not just discreetly, but also more comfortably and often more quickly than conventional orthodontic appliances. At Hampton clinic Capital Dental, we use a number of leading discreet brace brands, including Cfast and FastBraces, to straighten your teeth. We also offer treatment with clear aligners including Smile Tru, Invisalign and the Inman Aligner. All have their benefits, and these will be discussed by your dentist at your initial consultation.

Teeth straightening in Hampton

cosmetic-bracesWhen you come for an orthodontic consultation, your dentist will carefully examine your teeth and your bite – how your jaws meet each other – before discussing in detail all relevant treatment options. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about treatment, so that we can find the ideal appliance to suit both your clinical need and your lifestyle.

FastBraces

FastBraces can be traditional metal braces, or for maximum discretion clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires can be used. Whilst traditional orthodontic appliances move the teeth in two phases, FastBraces move both roots and crowns from day one. This speeds up your treatment time, with typical treatment lasting between three and 12 months.

Invisalign

One of several clear aligner systems available at our Hamptondental practice, Invisalign comprises a series of aligners that you change every two weeks as your teeth move. Because they are removable, Invisalign make maintain good dental hygiene during treatment a piece of cake.

Cfast braces

Cfast are cosmetic braces that focus on the front six teeth – those on show when you smile. Made from clear and tooth-coloured components, typical treatment time with Cfast is about six months.

Smile Tru

Smile Tru clear aligners can correct a wide range of orthodontic issues with minimal impact on your lifestyle. They are removable, meaning you can take them out for short periods to clean and to eat.

Dental implants: the permanent tooth replacement solution

Dental implants are the only permanent method by which your dentist can replace your missing teeth. At Capital Dental in Hampton our implant team is highly skilled and experienced. They can treat even complex implant cases, where bone loss has already started to happen.

dental-implantsThe benefits of dental implants

There are many benefits of using dental implants to replace missing teeth, not least that they enable your dentist to create restorations that look just like natural teeth. At our Hampton dental practice we can replace a single missing tooth with one implant and a crown, or several or all missing teeth with a number of implants and either implant-retained dentures or a bridge.

As well as looking like natural teeth, restorations attached to dental implants act like natural teeth too. Gone are the problems of dentures that become loos and unwieldy as your jaw bone starts to resorb; because they are placed in direct contact with the jaw bone (in a minor operation at our Hampton clinic) implants form a stable base on to which your new teeth are then attached. This means that you can bite and chew all your favourite foods with confidence, and you won’t be restricted to a liquid or soft-food diet.

Because they are made out of titanium, which supports bone growth, implants help to prevent bone loss, a common side effect of having several missing teeth. Bone loss can make dentures loose and can also cause a sagging, aged appearance to the face.

If you are interested in treatment with dental implants at our Hampton practice, we invite you to join us for a consultation with an implant dentist. They will assess your suitability for treatment and will check you have adequate bone density to support implants. Don’t panic if you lack bone density; we offer additional procedures designed to rebuild your jaw bone, too.

Straighter teeth without metal braces: an introduction to cosmetic orthodontics

In 2016, orthodontics doesn’t have to equate with metal braces that are painfully obvious in the mouth. At Capital Dental in Hampton, we offer a number of cosmetic orthodontic treatments designed to straighten your teeth efficiently, comfortably and, best of all, discreetly.

bracesThe benefits of cosmetic orthodontics

Although referred to as a cosmetic dental procedure, the health benefits of straightening your teeth should not be underestimated. There’s the boost to your self-esteem such treatment can provide, of course, but it’s also worth remembering that straighter teeth tend to be healthier teeth, because they are easier to keep clean. So long as you practise good oral hygiene at home and visit your dentist and hygienist as often as they recommend, straightening your teeth can reduce your risk of gum disease and tooth decay.

Teeth straightening treatment also helps to ensure the forces generated when biting and chewing food are evenly distributed in your mouth, which means there is less chance certain teeth will get prematurely worn. When you come to our Hamptondental practice for a cosmetic orthodontic consultation, these benefits will be explained to you in full.

Braces or aligners

Cosmetic orthodontics doesn’t necessarily mean doing away with braces altogether – they are, after all, often the best way to straighten teeth, giving your dentist or orthodontist maximum control over tooth movement. We used both fixed appliances (braces) and removable aligners at our Hampton clinic, and the best option in your case will depend upon your clinical need and your personal preference.

Before you panic at the word “braces”, let us reassure you. The fixed appliances used at our Hampton practice comprise clear and tooth-coloured components, which means they blend into your mouth and are not immediately noticeable.

We also offer treatment with various clear aligner systems. These fit over your teeth, are pretty much invisible in everyday life, and have the additional benefit of being removable.

Are dental implants possible if you have low bone density?

Dental implants are a 21st Century method of replacing missing teeth, providing not just an aesthetically pleasing smile, but also restoring full functionality to your jaw. At Capital Dental in Hampton, our experienced implantology team can replace one, some, or even all of your teeth with the help of implants.

dental-implantsBone grafts and sinus lifts

One of the most common side-effects of losing natural teeth is bone loss. This happens because, without the tooth roots in place, the jaw bone will start to shrink back or resorb. This can make placing dental implants more complex, but by no means impossible.

If your dentist has told you that you are unsuitable for dental implants because of low bone density, the implantology team at our Hampton practice may well still be able to help.

Our skilled implant dentist can perform an additional procedure – either a bone graft or sinus lift, depending on which jaw is affected – which is designed to rebuild the density of your jaw bone prior to implant placement. This can be carried out here at our modern Hampton dental practice, with conscious sedation available.

Bone material – your own, or from a donor source that may be human, animal, or synthetic – is used to rebuild the bone in the affected jaw. After a healing period, your dentist will then be able to place your dental implants.

Dental implants replace the root part of one or more missing teeth and are osteoconductive, meaning they support bone growth. Once your dentist has placed them a further healing period of about two months is needed to allow them time to integrate with the bone. After that, you will be called back to our Hampton clinic so that your dentist can attach your permanent new teeth to the abutments on top of the implants.
